Hey girl, are you feeling down, like life has just run you over and there is no way for you to be getting up?
Well, put in some ear buds or even an old school pair of headphones and dial into these tunes like now, because you are wasting time sulky in that corner. And to really get your feel good juices going, get up off that couch and do a little shimmy across your floor. (Double score if you have hard wood – they make the best dance floors!)
I guarantee- the music along, with the dancing, will cure the doldrums that you are in. And, you can thank me on the other side of the rainbow! But for now, you are so welcome.
My Top Ten Playlist (Happy Days are Just Around the Corner!)
10. Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole
This song has a lot of personal meaning to me because I played it when I was deeply depressed and it gave me hope that there was a better place. I play it now with great joy in my heart because I found my somewhere over the rainbow and I know you can too!
9. This by Darius Rucker
This song is upbeat and has the best message showing that at times in our lives when things didn’t turn out, there was something so much better waiting for us!
8. Free Me by Josh Stone
This is the best self empowerment song ever made! If you need your confidence amped up,go listen to it!
7. Vogue by Madonna
You may not be a Madonna fan or like this song but the thing that I like about her is that she has the courage to push the edge. But what I really love about Madonna is that she did it her way & really didn’t care what anyone else thought. I turned into a Glee fan with the episode called “The Power of Madonna”. In it, Sue, the Cheerios cheerleading coach, had said that Madonna’s music gave her empowerment. I think I it does- check it out.
6. Stayin’ Alive by The Bee Gees
I am not sure how you can not feel better after listening to The Bee Gees. I just get up and get my disco on and my whole world changes!
5. Perfect by Pink
I love all of Pink’s music. She is an amazing song writer who’s lyrics carry a great depth of emotions. I feel that Pink expresses her emotions through her songs, letting out any anger, sadness, frustration (And of course happiness) and is one of the reasons why I love her. She uses song writing as therapy and a way to discharge emotions. sAnd, like other females on this list, she is strong and has the confidence to do things her way.
4. You Need to Calm Down by Taylor Swift
I wasn’t a Taylor Swift fan until 2019 when I fell in love with the song Delicate then saw the Netflix documentary about her life. It was at that time that I really looked at her work with new eyes. Taylor is an amazing lyricist and uses her music, in a fun way, to express what she is going through. This song in particular is fun to listen and dance to!
3. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus
This isn’t my top favorite Miley song, go look up more of her, but it’s the most fun to dance to!
2. Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
This is by far one of the greatest bands on the planet. The music – just sit back and listen to the instruments!
1. Mamma Mia by ABBA
My whole family are ABBA fans and their music was always being played when I was young. The songs are fun, danceable and they transport me to a time of my first dance parties!
Some of these songs are meant to have a dance party to and some are meant to for the mere pleasure of listening. I hope you explore this more, music is such a great way to calm the soul ❤️
