Amidst life’s transitions, let the winds of change carry you towards the untold beauty of a life anew.”

Hey there, my friend!

I am excited to share some tips on how to more effectively handle transitions.  You know transitions…. it’s that phase of life where we go from the familiar to the unknown. It has always been a bit challenging for me, and I bet you’ve felt it too. The excitement of something new mixed with that overwhelming feeling. It’s like anxiety kicks in, and we find ourselves either turning back or giving up. Or sometimes, we get stuck in resistance, longing for the comfort of what we already know.

But here’s the good news—I’ve grown stronger and more resilient when it comes to transitions. I’ve figured out my own little toolkit to help me through that in-between stage, the journey from what was to what is. Want to know my secret weapons? Meditation, mantras, and affirmations! Seriously, they’ve made a world of difference. It’s all about our mindset, you know? I have used the process of creating a powerful story for myself and stuck to it.

There’s actual research and insightful discussions on this very topic. I can’t wait to share the highlights with you and the five practical tips they shared. It’s like a goldmine of wisdom to help us navigate and rock those transitions in our lives.

But hey, I’m not the only one with experiences in this. I want to hear your stories too! Do you struggle with transitions? 5 Tips to Master Transitions

Transitions in life can be big or small (In my opinion-I have struggled with them both! lol) Anything from starting a new habit to going through a divorce or maybe even possibly moving to a new apartment (raises hand). We are going from what was familiar into something that is new and this can be an unsettling feeling for most people.

But, with these 5 tips, you can develop a way to help support you through the ups and downs of life…especially transitions!

1.Begin With Your Transition Superpower.

Transitions have 3 phases

  • Long Goodbye-you mourn then past
  • Messy Middle-Shed habits and create new habits
  • New Beginning-Unveil new self

Each of us gravitate to a phase we are best at and get bogged down in the phase we are the weakest. Your kryptonite is to start any transition with your superpower phase. What is yours? I resonate the most with the Messy Middle!

2.Accept Emotions

Ugh! Those pesky emotions. Some of the top emotions we go through are fear, sadness and shame. Accept that transitions are an emotional experience. It is normal to feel this way. You will find in recognizing your emotions then accepting them they become less and less overwhelming. Name an emotion that you find creeps up on you. Can you meet it and draw strength from it?

3.Try Something New

We do 2 things in our time in the wildnerness

1. We shed things -mindsets, routines and habits

2. We perform astonishing acts of creativity. Shedding creates space for what comes next and I this next phase, we can get really creative! What are you shedding and what ways are you creative?

4.Seek Wisdom From Others

We feel isolated and alone during a life transition. Find a way to share your experience with someone else. My sister has always been my biggest supporter. My husband, who is my constant companion, is right there with her. These two show me love unconditionally and lift me up when I doubt my self and/or my direction. Who are your cheerleaders?

5.Rewrite Your life Story

A life transition is a meaning-making experience. It is an autobiographical occasion in which we are called to revisit, rethink and retell our life story. We add a new chapter for what we learned during the “life quake”. It serves as a reminder that no matter how bleak your story gets, you cannot give up on the happy ending. Have you rewritten a chapter from your life story yet? What does your happy ending look like?
